Bis (2-propylheptyl) phthalate, abbreviated as DPHP, has the molecular formula C28H4604 and a relative molecular mass of 446.7. It is a colorless, transparent, viscous oily liquid with a slight odor. It has low toxicity, low volatility, high stability and is soluble in most organic solvents. It has good compatibility with PVC and its plasticizing efficiency is superior to that of DOTP.
Its electrical insulation performance is the same as that of DOTP, but it has the least volatility, can withstand higher temperatures, and has the highest safety. DPHP can be used alone, in combination with other plasticizers, or as a substitute for plasticizers such as DBP, DINP, and BBP. It is widely applied in the production of plastics and rubber and is one of the most outstanding plasticizer products among phthalate esters.
