Dibutyl Phthalate(DBP)
Dibutyl phthalate is a colorless, transparent oily liquid with a slight aromatic odor. Its molecular formula is C16H22O4, with a molecular weight of 278.35 and a relative density (d2520) of 1.045. It has a strong dissolving ability.
It has excellent compatibility with most organic solvents and hydrocarbons such as nitrocellulose and polystyrene, and is the main plasticizer for cellulose resins and polyvinyl chloride. It is particularly suitable for nitrocellulose coatings, featuring excellent solubility, dispersibility and adhesion. The produced paint film has both good softness and stability. It has good compatibility with pigments and is used for coloring plastic products such as films and artificial leather. It can also be used as a plasticizer and softener for polyvinyl chloride, alkyd resin, ethyl cellulose and chloroprene rubber to enhance the resilience of the products.
